Butch Cassidy 10K
Picture taken before the run, before the sun, thanks Jeff!
And thanks Chels for running with me. I know you could have left me in your dust . . . How fun it was to run with you and visit a bit. It reminded me of the long walks we used to go on in high school, such fond memories. I love having you by my side . . . What a fun morning full of friends and family. (Thanks to Grandma for tending the wee one!)

Eat lunch with your K-student day!It was even chicken nuggets, yum! I love you Conner!
Three Cowboys at Nap Time (not sure how "nap" time got it's name)..jpg)

Conner brought Keenan for "Show and Tell." He was so sweet with him. Conner told all about him and what he can and can not do. Keenan loved it. (It was also "hat day" for Red Ribbon Week)
Jael Turns 8! What a Week!

Well, that was an exhausting but beautiful week, full of memories and sweet moments that I will never forget.
Jael's birthday is October 9 (which was a Thursday) but it seemed as though we celebrated all week.
On Tuesday we went to the church to meet with the Primary Presidency, they spoke with us about her baptism and fitted her with a very special white jumpsuit for her to be baptized in. Jael was impressed that it had "Glendale Ward" embroidered in the left chest. I kinda cried as I helped her into this all-white outfit. It is a precious memory I will never forget.
On Thursday, her birthday, I ate school lunch with her and had a small cupcake bash with her second grade class. (Their classroom theme this year is, "Welcome to the Swamp.") Her teacher, Mrs. Sorenson is a Florida native and bigtime "Gator" fan so Jael requested this special cupcake design. We celebrated her birthday as a family, she blew out eight candles and opened her stilts. She has wanted these stilts for so long, it was a super surprise! She is actually getting really good at them now!
Friday was the big friend party. Thirteen 7 and 8 year olds got off the bus with us and we partied hard. (This experience reminded me (again) of why I didn't go into Elementary Education)
On Sunday, Jael was baptized. She is a powerhouse of spiritual strength and special beyond words. I am so thankful that she allowed me to be her mother, I am blessed and honored and hope I can measure up. Her baptism was beautiful and sacred and I am so grateful for her example and awareness of what she was doing. Wow, what a week!

Conner's Turkey
Conner (a.k.a. Hunting Buddy) and his first turkey.
Conner didn't fall far from the tree when it comes to his desire to be in the outdoors.
Conner's first word was "buck," and he's been his Dad's hunting buddy ever since.
They had an awesome time together harvesting this beautiful turkey.

Keenan's First Haircut
His "comb-over" as we fondly called it is now gone!
I cut nearly an inch and a half off !
Jeremy says he looks military now . . .
I can't stand how cute he is! (slight possibility I'm biased)

Booster Club FUNd RUN
The 1K Clan!
The kids looked forward to this event for so long, I'm glad it finally came and is now gone. When you organize an event I've decided you don't quite get to "soak up" the enjoyment of the event. There is just a sense of anxiety associated with the "being in charge." (Maybe I'm alone in this feeling?) Overall, the event was a great success and we all had a blast! We raised a bunch of money for new playground equipment.

Who Wants to Come Visit Now ?

Have you ever been awakened around 4 in the morning by cat noises and a barking dog? Well, if you answered yes, I think I still have you beat. A few days ago, this was the beginning of the story. Jeremy got up and went downstairs to see if he could get our dog, Gypsy (a small little Jack Russell Terrier), to quit barking. We have many stray cats in the canyon and we assumed one had come to close to her territory and she was barking it away, or had it treed. He opened the front door just as Gypsy ran from the house to underneath the Yukon that I drive. Through his soon-to-be-very-awake eyes he sees a cougar, otherwise known as a mountain lion, sitting fifteen feet from the front door on our concrete walk. It just sat there and looked at him. He beat on the door and the front of the house, I specifically remember the words, "GET OUT OF HERE!" The lion slowly walked away disappointed that breakfast had been interrupted. Needless to say, none of us went back to sleep. Nor have we enjoyed the cool night air out on our patio since. Jeremy went on a pretty intense lion hunt that day with some government trappers we called in. Nothing was killed but we hope the hounds pushed it far enough away that it won't be visiting our front porch again anytime soon! Can you believe that? And I'm supposed to send my children to the bus stop? We've always known they are here and it's comforting to know that no one in the history of Utah has ever died from a mountain lion but I hope this is the only story I'll ever tell like this. Jeremy has lived here all of his life and has seen lions out in nature before, but never on his front porch trying to eat his dog. So with that said, who's coming to visit?
Cooper Start Preschool
After three and a half long years of dropping off brother and sister at school, this big boy finally gets his day. Cooper has been so excited to start school, no tears for him, only Mom. He literally ran in the door! I'm so proud of the boy he is becoming. He is so determined and independent, I wish he would let me help him more. One trait I love about Cooper is that he tries to hold back his smile. He'll tighten his lips and try to frown and at last when he knows it's to no avail, his smile is like a volcanic eruption. I love it! He goes to Miss Suzie's Zoo on Tuesday and Thursday for a few hours and Mom is glad I have Keenan to keep me company. He's really good at spelling and writing his name, ask him to do either and he'll give you an " O O " answer. The thing Cooper and I have most in common is our eating habits. We are both wired to wake up and say "feed me." I finally got somebody who will join me for breakfast.
